The Ionian Coast streches from Izmir in the north to Bodrum in the south. Izmir (ancient town of Smyrna) incorporates nearby ancient towns like Ephesus, Miletos, Pergamon and Sardis, as well as modern tourist centers like Kusadasi, Cesme and Foca.

In the ancient times this part of Turkey brought fourth many great minds together with astonishing culture thus writing very interesting history. Ancient Izmir, inheriotr of over 3.500 years of urban past, is a home town of Homer, the supposed author of early Greek poems: the Illiad and the Odyssey.
